Natural Treats - How to.

Well from time to time we get asked what we use for treats and the answer is often we use our home made treats; normally dried chicken breast fillet or dried beef liver. You can (1) make your own or (2) buy freshly made treats here from our shop as well. Here I will show you how we make the treats.

So treats are the best way to get your pups attention. Let's face it, it's effective.

But using treats can increase your pet's intake of salt, fat, sugar, etc.

The solution is to use as natural ingredients as possible. That's where dehydration comes in handy!

Here are the basic steps!

This is what you can do to make the perfectly addictive yet natural treat:

Step 1 - Buy fresh ingredients - human grade.

Wash your hands.

Make sure fat is trimmed off, else it can go rancid if you wanted to keep it for any length of time.

Step 2 - Slice and place on oven tray

Non-stick paper can make it easier to cleanup.

Step 3 - Set to 70 degrees celcius and dry for 17 hours

The slow drying process removes any moisture and turns the meat into jerky.

Step 4 - Flash bake the dried chicken / liver in the oven at 180 degree celsius for 15 minutes.

This kills any nasties and crisps the pieces.

Step 5 - Store in air tight or vacuum packaging

Keeping the moisture away allows these to be stored longer.... despite your pup wanting to eat them all in one sitting.
